Civilizations owe its existence to Structural Engineering.- Chris Magadia
CHRIS MAGADIA, CEng, MIStructE, CPEng, MIPENZ, PRC CE (84079) is a professional and chartered civil and structural engineer registered in the Philippines, New Zealand, and United Kingdom. He graduated from the Mapua Institute of Technology with a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering in 1998. In the same year he passed the professional board exam for Civil Engineers in the Philippines.
After graduation he spent his first 5 years working for international engineering consultants in the Philippines before relocating to the Middle East in 2003 where he gained considerable experience in the design of high rise and tall buildings as high as 105 storeys. He worked in the Middle East for 10 years before relocating to New Zealand where he gained excellent experience in seismic assessment of existing buildings and design of new buildings located in high seismic zones.
Chris has specialist knowledge in the design and assessment of high rise and tall buildings for seismic and wind actions. His technical paper on “Long Term Serviceability and Ultimate Design of Tall Building Structures” was approved by the Institution of Structural Engineers in the UK for his entry to the Chartered Structural Examination. The report discusses the technical aspects and criteria required for the design of super tall building structures for both service and limit state of design.
Chris has gained 16 years of professional design and review experience in the Philippines, Middle East, and New Zealand with completed projects in the Philippines, Japan, Djibouti, Saudi Arabia, Doha, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Turkey, Indonesia, Myanmar, Singapore, Russia, and New Zealand.
Before establishing CMECS, Chris worked for Kawasaki Design (Manila), GHD (Manila), AEB (Qatar), Whitbybird (Dubai), Ramboll (Dubai), WME (Dubai), BECA (New Zealand), and TJEG (Dubai). In TJEG he managed the structural department consisting of 25 engineering and technical staffs.
